Reds-Angels game postponed by California storm

Reds will play doubleheader Wednesday

The first tropical storm to hit the Los Angeles area in 84 years caused the postponement of a game between the Cincinnati Reds and Los Angeles Angels on Monday.

The Reds and Angels will make up the game Wednesday as part of a split doubleheader in Anaheim. The originally-scheduled game will take place at 4:07 p.m. The postponed game will be played at 9:38 p.m.

The Reds and Angels will start the three-game series at 9:38 p.m. Tuesday.

Los Angeles received a record 2.8 inches of rain on Sunday from tropical storm Hilary.

The Reds (64-61) lost two of three games over the weekend to the Toronto Blue Jays at Great American Ball Park to fall four games out of first place in the National League Central Division. The Reds are 5-12 in August.

Through Sunday, the Reds were one game out of the wild-card race. There are six teams fighting for three spots with everyone else in the league at least six games back.

The Reds are 6-10 all time against the Angels and 1-7 in Anaheim.
