Matt Kemp, Eugenio Suarez and Scott Schebler hit consecutive home runs in a seven-run inning, extending the Reds’ lead to 11-0 in the opener of a three-game series at Great American Ball Park. Kemp’s home run, a three-run shot, was his first as a Red.
The Reds hit back-to-back-to-back home runs for the first time since May 21, 2012, against the Atlanta Braves. It was Mike Leake, Zack Cozart and Drew Stubbs that day.
The Reds entered the game with a 1-8 record and 21 runs scored. They have been shut out four times.
