#Bengals QB Joe Burrow suffered a knee injury in the Super Bowl that won't require surgery, sources say, based on initial tests. He’ll have to rehab, but the sprain shouldn’t drastically alter his offseason.

Burrow ended his first two seasons with knee injuries, including a more serious one on his left knee in 2020 when he tore his ACL and MCL in a Week 10 game at Washington. This was the third time he had an issue with his right knee this season. He “banged it up” midseason and then hobbled off at the end of the Week 17 win over Kansas City and sat out with the rest of the starters in the regular-season finale.
The knee didn’t seem to be an issue after that and he never missed a snap, even after he came off the field limping following a third-down sack by Von Miller with about 12 minutes left in the Super Bowl. Burrow never sought medical attention and was back on the field for the next offensive series but he was hit again on the last play, a near sack by Aaron Donald, as his pass attempt fell incomplete to seal a 23-20 win for the L.A. Rams.
Burrow was sacked 70 times in 20 games, including 51 in the regular season and a record-tying seven in the Super Bowl.
The team’s 2020 No. 1 overall draft pick said after the game he felt good but indicated he would be getting checked out when the team returned to Cincinnati. The team arrived at Paul Brown Stadium to a large crowd of fans Monday evening and players turned in their i-Pads and were free to leave for the offseason after that.
Bengals coach Zac Taylor is scheduled to speak to media Wednesday morning, which will be his first press conference since postgame Sunday.
In other news Tuesday, the Bengals signed nine players from the practice squad to the offseason roster, including quarterback Jake Browning, cornerback John Brannon, center Lamont Gaillard, safety Trayvon Henderson, halfback Elijah Holyfield, tight ends Thaddeus Moss (practice squad/injured list) and Scotty Washington, defensive end Noah Spence and wide receiver Pooka Williams.
