The NBA voted Thursday to hold its draft on Oct. 15, according to a report by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. The draft was originally scheduled to take place June 25 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
Toppin, the Dayton Flyers star who was the consensus national player of the year in 2020, is expected to be a lottery pick. He would be the program’s first first-round pick since Jim Paxson in 1979. The draft lottery will take place Aug. 25, according to Wojnarowski.

The NBA also voted to resume its season July 31 in Orlando, according to a report by Shams Charania, of The Athletic.
According to Charania, “The NBA’s 22-team format at Orlando’s Disney World would bring the 16 teams currently in a playoff spot, six additional teams, and include a play-in tournament for the eighth seed.”
