HS Roundup 4/11: ‘Boro baseball beats Troy in a wild one

Springboro prevailed in a back-and-forth baseball game on Thursday, beating Troy 9-8.

Troy jumped ahead early with four runs in the first inning, but Springboro rallied with three in the third and six in the fourth to take a commanding lead.

Troy wasn’t finished though, scoring four runs in the top of the seventh in a rally effort before ‘Boro recorded the final out.

Logan Zier, Jake D’Amico and Calvin Walters each had a pair of RBI for Springboro, with Zier hitting a double.

Jacob Adams tripled, drove in three runs and scored twice to lead Troy.

Baseball

Dayton Christian 11, Dixie 1: Justin Dillhoff blasted a two-run homer and Dayton Christian pulled away with nine runs in the final two innings. Dillhoff and Ryan Edgerton tallied two hits apiece, and Edgerton also recorded the win on the mound.

Fort Loramie 23, Anna 0: C.J. Billing homered, doubled twice and drove in six runs to lead the way for Fort Loramie. Ben Barhorst added three hits with three runs scored and four RBI and Eli Rosengarten had a double with three RBI.

Lebanon 3, Kings 1: Lebanon scored all three runs in the fourth inning after falling behind 1-0 in the first. Max Bittman picked up the win on the mound and Drew Cooper racked up a pair of hits.

National Trail 7, Tri-Village 0: Peyton Lane and Hunter Michael each collected three hits, including a run-scoring triple that put National Trail on the board from Lane. Kenny Moore struck out ten over six innings to earn the win on the mound.

St. Henry 3, New Bremen 0: Marc Siefring scattered five hits and one walk over seven innings in shutout form for St. Henry. New Bremen’s Justin Tenkman had a pair of hits in a losing effort.

Tri-County North 3, Newton 1: Newton scored first but TCN followed with three unanswered runs. Casey Whipp and Chayse Eby each had a double and a run scored and Dylan Curtin tallied one RBI for TCN.

Softball

Mississinawa Valley 13, Twin Valley South 0: Taylor Collins struck out nine on the circle in a shutout and Lindsay Johns tallied three hits with two runs scored and four RBI.

National Trail 6, Tri-Village 5: Kayleigh Minner singled in the game-winning run and Jenna Petitt doubled in the tying run, both in the seventh inning, to highlight National Trail’s rally win.

Northmont 6, Preble Shawnee 5: Kassie Kelemen homered in the first inning to get Northmont started, and Kaylee Wood, Carmynn Bonner and D.J. Shepherd each finished with multiple hits.

Riverside 8, Tecumseh 5: MacKenzie Drew blasted two homers and drove in all five of Tecumseh’s runs in a losing effort.

Boys Tennis

Dixie 3, Preble Shawnee 2: Andrew Wade won a tiebreak in third singles and Dixie swept the doubles matches to earn the win.

Fenwick 3, Chaminade Julienne 2: Tim Erhart and Connor Powers won singles matches to lead the way for Fenwick.

Miamisburg 4, Fairmont 1: Shekar Dhanaseker, Michael Raj and Jonathan Bierley swept the singles matches for ‘Burg.

Northwestern 3, Tecumseh 2: Reilly Smith won in first singles and Northwestern swept the doubles matches. Jacob Lewis and Parker Randenburg each had singles wins for Tecumseh.

Valley View 5, Franklin 0: Justin Devilbiss and Carson and Lane Powell each won their singles matches by scores of 6-0, 6-0 for Valley View.

Boys Volleyball

Beavercreek 3, Northmont 1: Simon Ricks tallied 16 kills, Jarrod Brown poured in 49 assists, Naumaan Hussain chipped in 20 digs and Anthony Sanfilippo had five blocks for ‘Creek.

Edgewood 3, Miamisburg 0: Eyan Berlepsch recorded six aces with 13 assists, Griffin Smith added 11 kills and Drew Vallandingham had three blocks and eight kills for Edgewood.

Boys Lacrosse

Carroll 13, Talawanda 6: Ethan Fisher and Alexis Ortiz scored four goals apiece to pace Carroll and Andrew Ware added two goals with one assist.

Girls Lacrosse

Miamisburg 11, Fenwick 7: Maddie Littman drove in five goals with three draw controls, Madelyn Noll added three goals and Taylor Shoenfelt racked up 18 saves for ‘Burg.
