Marion Local’s early onslaught lifted the Flyers past Patrick Henry 40-6 to earn a spot in the Division VII state championship. No stranger to deep playoff runs, this will be Marion Local’s ninth consecutive appearance in a state final.

Kyle Muhlenkamp threw two long touchdown passes — 71 and 92 yards — to Charles Huelsman in the first half and Peyton Otte broke a 97-yard touchdown run. Marion Local went into the half with a 33-0 lead and never looked back.

The Flyers will face Lucas on Saturday at 10 a.m. to crown the Division VII champion.

Girls Basketball

Franklin 48, Oakwood 45: Franklin was paced by Jordan Rogers’ 17 points and five boards; Brooke Stover chipped in 14 with 11 boards and Madison Earles had 11 points and six boards.

Mechanicsburg 70, Northeastern 22: Grace Forrest had 21 for Mechanicsburg.

Miamisburg 64, West Carrollton 30: Anna Long had 23, Jalynn Carruth had 14 for victorious Miamisburg.

Boys Basketball

Badin 65, Cin. Christian 50: Badin was led by Andrew Larkin’s 19 and Zach Switzer’s 10 points. A strong start to the second half helped Badin pull away.

St. Henry 83, Russia 39: St. Henry’s Seth Heitkamp led team scorers with 16, Riley Link chipped in 15, Ben Evers added 14, Matt Bertke scored 12 and Andrew Lange dropped in 10 in a big win.

Swimming

Beavercreek took the girls 200-yard medley relay, as the team of Allison Gillman, Marissa Hayes, Zoe Egbert and Ashtyn Gluck pulled away from second place Bellbrook. Beavercreek’s boys took their version of the same event, as the team of Jordan Cantz, Joshua Cantz, Mason Koslovsky and Trevor Ganger pulled away from Bellbrook.

Bellbrook’s McKenna Melton won the girls 50 yard butterfly, while Bellbrook’s Zach Hulett took the boys competition. The 50-yard freestyle was won by Beavercreek’s Allison Gillman and Trevor Ganger, respectively. In the 100 yard individual medley, Beavercreek’s Zoe Egbert and Trevor Ganger won, while in the 100-yard freestyle, Beavercreek’s Ashtyn Gluck and Jordan Cantz won.

In the 50 yard backstroke, Beavercreek’s Teagan Melton and Bellbrook’s Camden Caldwell won, while in the 50-yard breaststroke, Fairborn’s Calletia Lively and Beavercreek’s Joshua Cantz won.

In the 200-yard freestyle relay, Bellbrook’s Anika Arora, Nitika Arora, Cloe Caldwell and Emmalee Benson won for the girls, while Beavercreek’s Trevor Ganger, Joshua Cantz, Mason Koslovsky and Jordan Cantz won for the boys.

In the 1 meter diving, Piqua’s Libby Bradney and Bellbrook’s Alex Welsh won.
