HS Roundup 11/29: Springboro basketball edges Fairfield in thriller

Willieon Yates exploded for 32 points and Springboro needed every one of them in a 69-68 win versus Fairfield to open the boys basketball season for each team on Friday.

Yates led three players in double-digit scoring for ‘Boro. Noah Moser added 20 points and Kahleel Trent 11, including a go-ahead three-point shot with five seconds to play.

Zavian Ricks paced Fairfield with 28 points and Deshawne Crim tacked on 16.

Boys Basketball

Dayton Christian 59, Waynesville 52: Brady Woodall scored 12 points and Seth Griswold and Ethan Keister added 11 apiece to help Dayton Christian win in rally fashion at the Waynesville Tip-Off Classic.

Emmanuel Christian 60, Cedarville 54: Fred Shropshire led the way for Emmanuel Christian with 17 points and Casey Swank tacked on 16.

Greenon 80, Riverside 61: Jaden Journell drained four three-pointers on the way to 20 points to lead Greenon. Mason Potter added 18 and Clay Hough 17.

Greenville 45, Arcanum 37: D.J. Zimmer scored all 13 of his points in the second half to lead Greenville and Tyler Beyke added 10 points.

Hamilton 68, Northwest 48: Trey Robinson exploded for 27 points in leading Hamilton. Kristian Walton added 15.

Jackson Center 55, Russia 30: Aidan Reichert netted 21 points and Clay Akers 13 for Jackson Center. Mason Dapore led Russia with 13 points.

Miamisburg 84, Tecumseh 46: A dozen players scored points for Miamisburg led by Alex Ball with 16. Jackson McGohan, Evan Otteson and Evan Logan each reached double-digit scoring as well.

Minster 80, Houston 44: Jacob Salazar led four players in double-digit scoring for Minster with 17 points. Carson Prenger added 15 and Ethan Lehmkuhl and Justin Nixon had 12 apiece.

National Trail 58, Eaton 43: Cameron Harrison tallied 24 points and was named the MVP of the Twin Valley South Tip-Off Championship for National Trail. Zach Woodall added 16 points.

New Miami 86, Oyler 55: Deanza Duncan poured in 25 points, Trey Robinette tacked on 18 and Jordan Robinette 12 to lead New Miami.

Northwestern 50, Miami East 49: Taliek Dennis netted 22 points and Matthew Hart 13 for Northwestern. Sam Zapadka paced Miami East with 11.

Oakwood 83, Bethel 47: Will Maxwell chipped in 17 points and Darren Rubin added 15 for Oakwood in the Waynesville Tip-Off Classic.

St. Henry 63, Spencerville 47: Riley Link recorded 17 points, Andrew Lange added 11 and Matt Bertke hauled in ten rebounds for St. Henry.

Troy 74, Bellefontaine 58: Shaeden Olden recorded 19 points, Jaden Owens added 13 and Troy pulled away in the second half. Brett Belser led Bellefontaine with 12 points.

Girls Basketball

Chaminade Julienne 48, Badin 43: Jordyn Varise tallied 14 points, including an 8-for-8 night at the foul line, to lead Chaminade Julienne. Mickayla Kowalski led Badin with 14 points and Jada Pohlen added 11.

Hamilton 79, Northwest 20: Anna Cardwell netted 17 points and Leah Smith, Journee Hicks and Jayden Issacs each added 11 for Hamilton.
