Three days after losing 75-49 at home to No. 6 South Carolina, Dayton improved to 3-1 thanks in part to the first big scoring night of the season for senior Jayla Scaife, who scored 24 points after scoring a total of 23 points in the first three games.

Scaife made 7 of 15 shots from the field and 8 of 10 free throws. She also led the team with 10 rebounds.
Erin Whalen (16 points) and Jenna Giacone (11 points) also reached double figures and helped Dayton’s bench outscore Northeastern’s 27-8.

Dayton took control of the game in the final three minutes of the second quarter. With the game tied at 21, the Flyers began an 11-3 run with a 3-pointer by Whalen. Dayton had a double-digit lead throughout the second half.
The Flyers return to action at noon Thursday at Central Michigan (0-2) and play No. 4 Connecticut (2-0) in their next home game at 7 p.m. Nov. 26. Northeastern fell to 0-3.
