Scoochie Smith to play for Cavs’ G League team

Smith signed with the Cavaliers earlier this month but was waived days later. According to a report by Keith Smith, the Cavs waived Smith and Isaac Hamilton to sign Bonzie Colson and Levi Randolph, two of the four rookies who are on Cleveland's training camp roster.

Smith will return to the Charge after appearing in eight games for them at the end last season. He averaged 14.3 points, 8.1 assists and 4.3 rebounds. He shot 51.9 percent from the floor and 52.3 percent from 3-point range. He had his best game — 26 points and 10 assists — in the final game March 23.

Smith’s success in Canton earned him an invitation to the Las Vegas Summer League with the Cavaliers. He averaged 8.3 points, 2.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists in 16.9 minutes per game.
