Smith brothers, Toppin, Mikesell to host basketball camps this summer

Former Dayton basketball players

Former Dayton Flyers point guard Scoochie Smith and his brother, current UD point guard Malachi Smith, will hold a basketball camp on campus for the second straight year.

The Smith Camp will take place from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on July 22-23 at the UD Rec Plex.

Boys and girls from grades 1-8 are welcome. The camp costs $100 for one day or $150 for two days.

The camp takes place days before The Basketball Tournament returns to UD Arena. Scoochie played for the Dayton alumni team, the Red Scare, last year for the first time.

• Former Dayton forward Obi Toppin will hold a camp for the third straight year. It will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Aug. 1-2. It is open to boys and girls in grades 1-8. Cost is $199. To register, visit Procamps.com/Toppin23.

• Former Dayton forward Ryan Mikesell will hold Camp 33 on June 11 at the St. Henry Community Center. It is open to boys and girls in grades 1-8. Grades 1-4 will play from 9 a.m. to noon. Grades 5-8 will play from 1-4. Cost is $50. To register, visit Camp-33.com.
