Springboro has hired Brett Kostoff as its new boys basketball coach pending school board approval on May 13.

Kostoff has been an assistant the past seven years at La Salle High School in Cincinnati, including the last three as an associate head coach. He was the head junior varsity coach for the Lancers for two seasons, guiding them to a 35-7 record and a Greater Catholic League South title.

“I couldn’t be more excited to be named the Boys Basketball Head Coach at Springboro High School,” Kostoff said in a release. “I want to make all past, present and future Springboro Panthers proud of our young men and our program. When I first got into coaching at the high school level, it was my goal to eventually take over a basketball program that has great students, administration and families.”

Kostoff repalces Kyle Youker, who stepped down earlier this month after three seasons . The Panthers finished 13-12 this season, advancing to the program's first Division I district final in seven years before falling 65-25 to two-time defending state champion Moeller .

La Salle is 133-45 overall the last seven seasons. The Lancers led the GCL South in total defense the last two seasons, limiting its opponents to less than 40 points per game.
