Bosa underwent surgery after suffering a core muscle injury against Texas Christian in September. It turned out to be his last play. He’s expected to be a top-five pick in the NFL Draft next spring, if not the first overall pick.
Here’s how fans, current and former teammates and media reacted to the news:
Get money big brotha.. love as always❤️ @nbsmallerbear https://t.co/XyV6V3gewZ

Love u brotha

Nick Bosa is the only person in college football for whom Nick Bosa is the number one priority. For anyone to criticize him is absurd. #OhioState

Nick Bosa is a “quitter” and “greedy” focusing on rehabbing his pelvic muscle injury and training for the #NFLDraft instead of a possible late season comeback to Ohio State. pic.twitter.com/SYl1o6Y3ag

Nick Bosa’s decision certainly hurts Ohio State’s chances at a national title, but it’s a no-brainer for the likely No. 1 overall pick in next year’s NFL Draft. Anyone in disagreement is wanting him to play for their own benefit rather than see him stay healthy and get paid.

It’s crazy to see how many “fans” who used to sing Nick Bosa’s praises are calling him names. As long as he was honest with his team and his coaches, it’s a non issue. He has a lot on the line (potential #1 pick) and gave a lot to OSU Football. I wish you luck @nbsmallerbear!

If I had injured myself and had $30 million on the line if I got healthy in a few months, you can rest assured I would not have rushed back to journalism classes for the last few weeks my senior year.
— Tom Orr (@TomOrr4) October 16, 2018
This is true for you too, "Nick Bosa Is Selfish" Guy.
No one is talking about Nick Bosa dropping his classes after the deadline for a 100 percent refund.
— McNeil (@Reflog_18) October 16, 2018
That hurts.
I wish Nick Bosa the best and encourage all other Ohio State players to also leave the program and focus on their futures instead

@nbsmallerbear is leaving Ohio State and my roommate knows me so well that she texted me to check on me pic.twitter.com/V12v4grVwy

Does it suck that Nick Bosa is not coming back? YES. Does it lessen Ohio State’s chance to win the Natty? YES. Does it give anyone the right to come at @nbsmallerbear and criticize him for being honest to his team and securing his future. #AbsoFreakinLutley NOT. Get outta here...

We’re going to hold it down brotha, I gotchu. @nbsmallerbear 🙏 https://t.co/VZdpSBqam8
— Dwayne Haskins, Jr🌹 (@dh_simba7) October 16, 2018
One of the best teammates and competitors I’ve been around. Know this was a tough decision, but made the right one. Good luck bro🤙🏻 @nbsmallerbear https://t.co/GPVcaPGw2Y

Really glad I don’t run an Ohio State Twitter account anymore so I don’t have to purposely see people who witnessed Jaylon Smith’s career altering injury in a meaningless exhibition do mental gymnastics to criticize Nick Bosa’s business decision
— Luke Zimmermann (@lukezim) October 16, 2018
Nick Bosa's impact is irreplaceable but Ohio State is either 1a or 1b in the ranking of schools equipped to handle a loss like that at DE so give thanks for Chase Young and Jonathon Cooper
— Ryan Ginn (@rmginn) October 16, 2018
When you see you won't have to face Nick Bosa again, but then realize Dwayne Haskins is still on the team. pic.twitter.com/t5WM0MhWDf
