Former Ohio State Buckeyes guard Aaron Craft hit the game-ending shot this time — five years after losing to Dayton in the NCAA tournament — though it was far less dramatic than Vee Sanford’s shot in 2014.

Craft clinched an 85-71 victory with a layup for Carmen’s Crew against Dayton’s alumni team, the Red Scare, in the third round of The Basketball Tournament at Capital University on Sunday. The shot was the final basket in the Elam Ending. Carmen’s Crew led 76-61 at the first clock stoppage under four minutes. At that point, the first team to reach 84 points would win.

Carmen’s Crew advanced to the quarterfinals Aug. 1 in Chicago.

Darrell Davis led the Red Scare with 18 points. He had 16 in the first half. Kendall Pollard and Vee Sanford each scored 15. Kyle Davis had 14.

The Red Scare led 19-15 after the first quarter but trailed 42-40 at halftime.
