Cincinnati Reds starter Trevor Bauer criticized Major League Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred in a Twitter post on Monday after news of a possible playoff expansion broke.

“No idea who made this new playoff format proposal, but Rob is responsible for releasing it, so I’ll direct this to you, Rob Manfred,” Bauer wrote. “Your proposal is absurd for too many reasons to type on twitter and proves you have absolutely no clue about baseball. You’re a joke.”

Joel Sherman, of the New York Post, reported baseball is "seriously weighing" adding two playoff teams in each league, meaning there would be 14 postseason participants in all. One of the new ideas would be the top seed in each league picking its opponent.

The changes would be made in 2020, according to the New York Post.
