Area girls make their points in OHSBCA North-South games

Layne Ferrell of Franklin had 11 points, eight rebounds and five assists in the South’s 131-77 defeat of the North during Friday’s girls combined Divisions I-II Ohio High School Basketball Coaches Association All-Star Game at Denison University.

A 6-foot, 2-inch frontliner, Ferrell has signed with Akron.

Also playing for the South Divisions I-II were Corinne Thomas (Tecumseh) and Mikala Morris (Kenton Ridge).

Samantha Whiteman of Covington had 12 points and eight rebounds and Waynesville’s Rachel Murray eight points in the South’s 72-70 win in the combined Divisions III-IV game.

Whiteman signed to play at Trevecca Nazarene in Nashville, Tenn., and Murray signed with Embry-Riddle Aeronautical at Daytona Beach, Fla.

Also playing for the South Divisions III-IV was Morgan Haney of Miami East. Tri-Village coach Brad Gray was a South assistant.
