The Athlon Sports and Lindy’s Sports college basketball previews came out this month and agreed on Dayton’s placement but had different teams atop their A-10 predictions.
Athlon Sports picked Virginia Commonwealth, the defending regular-season champion, to win the A-10. Lindy’s picked Davidson.
Both magazines had Dayton forward Obi Toppin on the preseason first team. Lindy’s named Dayton point guard Jalen Crutcher the top playmaker in the league and put him on the all-conference third team.
» JABLONSKI: My early A-10 prediction
Athlon Sports predicted Dayton will receive a No. 11 seed in the NCAA tournament and wrote, “The Flyers are primed to return to the NCAA tournament and will certainly be a threat in the A-10.”
The official Atlantic 10 preseason poll will be released Oct. 24.
Wright State, the defending Horizon League regular-season champion, was picked to win the conference by Lindy’s and Athlon Sports.
