Wittenberg Tigers enter top 10 of D3Hoops.com poll

The Wittenberg Tigers moved from unranked to No. 17 to No. 10 in two weeks in the D3Hoops.com men's basketball poll. It's the program's first top-10 ranking since the 2006-07 season, when it rose as high as No. 6.

In the newest poll released Monday, Wittenberg is one of three 13-0 teams in the top 10 and one of four unbeaten teams in the top 25.

The Tigers won their 13th straight game Saturday, beating Hiram 81-61 at Pam Evans Smith Arena. The Tigers moved into first place all by themselves in the North Coast Athletic Conference at 6-0 as Ohio Wesleyan (10-3, 5-1) lost 73-70 at home to Wooster (10-3, 4-2).

Wittenberg goes on the road twice this week for NCAC games, playing at Wasbash (6-7, 2-4) at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday and at Wooster at 6 p.m. Saturday. A matchup at home against No. 17 Ohio Wesleyan follows at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 17.

Wittenberg ranks second in the NCAC in scoring offense (83.2 points per game) and first in scoring defense (66.2). It ranks 10th in the nation in scoring margin (17.1) and 12th in field-goal percentage (50.8).

Wittenberg has the two most accurate shooters in the NCAC. Connor Seipel leads the conference in field-goal percentage (67 of 103, 65.0), and Chad Roy ranks second (70 of 111, 63.1).
