Alter High School graduate Megan Courtney is in line to become a U.S. Olympic Team member.

Courtney, a 2012 Alter grad, is a member of the U.S. Women’s National volleyball team that swept Kazakhstan, Bulgaria and Argentina earlier this month at Shreveport-Bossier City, Louisiana, to win the Tokyo Women’s Volleyball Qualification Tournament Pool C and earn a spot in the 2020 Tokyo Games.

The 12 members of the U.S. Olympic Team will not be determined until next year, but likely will be chosen from the U.S. National team.

“This was our big goal for the year,” Courtney, a libero/outside hitter, said in a USA Volleyball release. “Just really excited for this team’s opportunity to play in Tokyo.”

Team USA, ranked No. 3 in the world, has never won Olympic gold in indoor volleyball. The United States won Olympic silver in 2012, ’08 and 1984.
