Dayton Flyers women’s basketball coach Tamika Williams-Jeter and her staff added a second freshman to their 2022 recruiting class: Nayo Lear, a 5-foot-10 guard from South Holland, Ill., and Example Sports Academy.

Lear announced her commitment to Dayton on Thursday. The signing was announced Tuesday.

“Barry Bradford, her coach, is a tremendous coach and mentor and a really good friend of mine,” Williams-Jeter said in a press release. “He knew we needed a guard and gave us one that has great pace, very high basketball IQ, and a really phenomenal passer. She can get into her mid-range and finish at the rim. She gives us great length at 5-10 at the combo guard spot and we are really excited to have someone like Nayo, who as coach (George) Washington would say, she has some wiggle.”

Lear joins Saija Cleveland, a 6-1 guard/forward from Langham Creek High School in Houston, Texas. Cleveland signed with Dayton in November when Shauna Green was the head coach and has decided to stay with the new coaching staff. Kam’Ren Rhodes, the other recruit who signed with Cleveland, followed Green to Illinois.

The signing of Lear comes four days after Dayton announced the addition of Ohio State transfer Anyssa Jones.
