Erin Whalen, who made a 3-pointer on Dayton’s first possession and scored five of the first eight points, led Dayton with 25 points on 10-of-16 shooting. Araion Bradshaw scored 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting.
Jenna Giacone (six points), Kyla Whitehead (seven points) and Mariah Perez (one point) joined Whalen and Bradshaw in the starting lineup. Bradshawn and Whitehead tied for the team lead with three assists each.

Among the Flyers making their UD debuts was freshman Tenin Magassa, a 6-foot-5 center from France. She scored 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting and tied Whitehead for the team lead with six rebounds.
Freshmen Makira Cook and Capria Brown played six and four minutes, respectively, in their first college game.
Wayne grad Destiny Bohanon, who missed her freshman season with a knee injury, played the most minutes (30) off the bench. She had seven points and five rebounds in her first game as a Flyer.
Dayton’s second game of the season Dec. 2 at Illinois State was cancelled last weekend. Coach Shauna Green, who missed the opener after testing positive for COVID-19 on Monday, said she hoped to find a home to replace the Illinois State game on Dec. 3.
The next game on the current schedule would be at 2 p.m. Dec. 6, against Central Michigan at UD Arena.
