“C.J. brings a big and physical presence to our program. We know he will be a great addition to our culture,” Wright State coach Scott Nagy said. “He is an intelligent young man who is serious about everything he does both on and off the floor.”
Wilbourn, who entered the transfer portal March 31, has three seasons of eligibility remaining because the 2020-21 season did not count against anyone’s eligibility.
“Blessed for the opportunity!” he wrote on Twitter. “Just ready to go to work!”
Wilbourn made the Horizon League All-Freshman team in the 2019-20 season when he averaged 4.4 points and 2.9 rebounds while starting 30 games. He averaged 5.5 points and 2.1 rebounds as a sophomore, starting 12 of 15 games. He did not play after Feb. 12 because of a stress fracture in his foot.
Wilbourn is the second transfer to join the Wright State roster this month, following Riley Voss, a grad transfer from Cornell.
