About Wright State: The Raiders are coming off a sobering 79-58 loss at Detroit Mercy, which was picked last in the league. One of the few positives from the game was a solid showing by Love, who had 15 points and five rebounds in 21 minutes before fouling out. … Cole Gentry went 7 of 7 from the foul line and is now shooting 94 percent for the season (47 of 50). The school record is 94.9 percent. But he struggled with Detroit's size and athleticism in the backcourt, going 1 of 9 from the field and had three turnovers after averaging about one per game. … The Raiders are in unfamiliar territory in the league. The preseason favorites have had their worst three-game start since also going 1-2 in 2008-09. The last time they started 1-3 in the league was 2007-08 when they had a tough opening stretch. They lost to Valparaiso, beat No. 18 Butler and then had road losses against Milwaukee and Green Bay.

About Oakland: The Grizzlies rallied from a 10-point deficit midway through the second half to beat visiting Northern Kentucky, 76-74, on Thursday. Hill-Mais had 32 points to lead the upset of the defending regular-season champions. They've also beaten Cleveland State and Youngstown State on the road. … They went 4-9 in non-conference play but faced a tough schedule, losing to Michigan State, Georgia and Xavier. … Picked to finish fourth in the conference, they returned just one starter from last year's 19-14 team (Brailen Neeley, who is no longer with the program). Brechting and Cumberland missed 2017-18 with injuries, and Hill-Mais also took a redshirt year. … Dan Hipsher, 64, in his third year as the associate head coach, was a longtime assistant under Don Donoher at Dayton and was Anthony Grant's right-hand man at Alabama. He was a head coach at four schools, going 265-248.

Coming up: The Raiders have a key league game on the road against Northern Kentucky at 7 p.m. Friday on ESPN2.
