Trent Cole, University of Cincinnati defensive end from Xenia What: lead art for zone 4 sports for Oct. 2

Trent Cole, a Xenia High School standout who spent 12 seasons in the NFL, is going to be inducted into the University of Cincinnati’s athletics hall of fame.

Cole was a two-time All-Conference USA defensive end for the Bearcats in the early 2000s.

He ranked fifth in the nation with 1.79 tackles-for-loss per game as a senior in 2004 then went to the Philadelphia Eagles in the fifth round of the NFL draft the following spring.

In 10 seasons in the City of Brotherly Love, Cole logged 90.5 sacks, trailing only Pro Football Hall of Famer Reggie White in franchise history. He also spent two seasons with the Indianapolis Colts before officially retiring last year.

Cole is still No. 2 in UC annals with 48 tackles for loss and sixth in sacks (18.5).

The 2018 hall of fame honorees will be recognized during the Legion of Excellence Gala on September 20 at The Phoenix in downtown Cincinnati.

Joining Cole in the newest class are Trish Ladusaw (volleyball), Doris Scott (women's basketball) and Nick Van Exel (men's basketball).
