‘A hidden gem in western Ohio’

Annie Oakley birthplace has plenty to offer.

From the largest collection of Annie Oakley memorabilia to the ultimate “KitchenAid Experience,” there’s plenty to see and do in downtown Greenville and Darke County.

Located on Greenville Creek, Greenville is named after Revolutionary War hero General Nathanael Greene. The city is the county seat of Darke County, home to dozens of fun-filled activities, no matter how you prefer to spend your leisure time.

“It’s kind of a hidden gem of western Ohio. People think, ‘Well, it’s a small community, maybe we’ll spend a half-hour here,’ ” said Darke County Historical Society executive director Clay Johnson. “But they are wonderfully surprised when they discover all the places to visit and things to do.”

Darke County is adjacent to the Indiana border and is northwest of Montgomery County and two counties west of Clark County.
