Frost expected overnight; higher temps return later this week

Temperatures overnight will drop as low as the mid-30s, resulting in frost that could kill sensitive outdoor plants if not covered.

A frost advisory will be in effect from 4 to 9 a.m. Tuesday, issued by the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

Tuesday will be sunny and a few degrees warmer, with highs in the low to mid-60s.

Skies again will be clear overnight, which will have another chance for patchy frost. Lows will be in the upper 30s.

Clouds will increase Wednesday, which will have a high in the upper 60s. There is a slight chance of showers after 1 p.m.

Wednesday night there will be a chance of showers. Otherwise skies will be partly cloudy with an overnight low around 51 degrees.

Temperatures rebound into the mid-70s for Thursday and Friday.
