Cold front brings showers, chance of thunderstorms today

Today will be mild and cloudy, with a cold front moving into the area bringing a chance of showers this afternoon and evening, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

Rain chances will increase in the afternoon and evening, continuing through tomorrow morning. Some areas could see heavy localized showers, but widespread heavy showers is not expected.

Thunderstorms are also possible this afternoon, with a chance for hail and gusty winds.

Highs will be around 69 degrees, falling to lows around 48 degrees overnight.

Rain will be likely through midnight, falling to a chance of showers again in the early-morning hours.

By Wednesday afternoon dry conditions will return, with mostly cloudy skies.

It will be slightly cooler, with highs in the upper 50s.

Wednesday night will be mostly cloudy and chilly, with lows around 39 degrees.

On Thursday it will be partly sunny with a high around 59 degrees, followed by a mostly cloudy night with lows around 48 degrees.

Friday will start dry and partly cloudy with highs around 60 degrees. However, rain chances will increase throughout the day and into Saturday.

Rain will be likely for most of Saturday.
