Cold Weather Advisory in effect for MLK Day; Extremely cold temps today, tonight

A Cold Weather Advisory will be in effect around 1 a.m. on Monday morning and will continue until 10 a.m. on Wednesday, as issued by the National Weather Service in Wilmington for Champaign, Clark, Butler, Darke, Greene, Hamilton, Miami, Montgomery, Preble and Warren counties.

Today will be sunny but very cold with a high of 12 degrees. Wind chill values as low as minus 14 degrees expected. Wind gusts will be between 9 to 1 mph.

Tonight will be partly cloudy and very cold yet again with lows near four degrees. Wind chill values as low as minus 6 degrees expected.

The NWS said bitterly cold conditions from Sunday night through Wednesday morning settle in with dry conditions expected through midweek. A slight warming trend is expected by the end of the workweek, with more seasonable air filtering back into the Ohio Valley, according to the NWS.

On Tuesday, it’ll be a bit breezy with mostly sunny skies and a high of 12 degrees. Tuesday night will bring mostly clear skies with a low of minus 6 degrees.

Wednesday will be mostly sunny with a high of 19 degrees, followed by a mostly overcast night with lows around 13 degrees.

Thursday brings partly sunny skies and slightly warmer temperatures after a frigid midweek. Highs will be near 32 degrees.

Thursday night will be mostly cloudy with a low of 18 degrees.
