Cool, wet, windy today; Cold, breezy on New Year’s Day

Today will be cool, wet and breezy, with highs around 48 degrees according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

Showers will be more likely in the morning, with scattered rain possible during the day. As temperatures drop in the late evening any lingering showers could transition to snow.

Otherwise it will be breezy and cold tonight, with lows around 33 degrees.

New Year’s Day will be mostly cloudy, breezy and cold, with a slight chance of snow in the morning. Highs will be around 37 degrees. Clouds and breezy winds will continue tomorrow night, with lows falling to around 25 degrees.

Thursday will be partly cloudy, with highs around 35 degrees.
