Highs could reach the 90s for five straight days, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

Today will mostly sunny, and temperatures will rise to around 90 degrees during the day, the NWS forecast. Overnight lows will fall to around 70 degrees.

For Monday, highs will inch up a little more to around 92 degrees with mostly sunny skies.

Overnight lows will also be a little warmer at around 73 degrees.

“Maximum heat index values will reach the mid and upper 90s Monday and Tuesday and near 100 Wednesday,” the NWS said.

Highs Tuesday and Wednesday will hit about 93 degrees each day, according to the forecast. Both days carry a slight risk of showers and thunderstorms.

Thursday also is expected to be in the 90s, with a slight cooling off predicted for Friday with a high of 88 degrees.
