Flurries and freezing drizzle tonight; Winter Weather Advisory issued for most of region

Winter Weather Advisory is in effect through 9 a.m. Wednesday for Auglaize, Champaign, Clark, Darke, Greene, Logan, Mercer, Miami, Montgomery and Shelby counties. Areas of freezing drizzle with ice accumulations of a light glaze are possible. Motorists should plan on slippery road conditions.

Overnight: Freezing drizzle will continue through the overnight hours, Storm Center 7 Meteorologist Dontae Jones said. Accumulations will be a light glaze, which is causing slick spots on roadways, sidewalks and parking lots. There also are areas of fog, reducing visibility. Temperatures will be in the upper 20s to lower 30s for some by early morning.

Wednesday: Some patchy freezing drizzle or flurries possible. Highs in the low to mid-30s. A little breezy but dry during the day with cloudy skies. Clouds thicken at night with a slight chance of a few flurries.

Thursday: Snow showers for morning rush hour, with some light accumulation of a dusting to about ½ inch. Small amounts of freezing rain are possible. In the afternoon, precipitation transitions to a cold rain or rain/snow mix, with the possibility of sleet in the evening. It transitions to all snow after dark as temperatures drop. An additional ½ inch to 2 inches are possible for some areas. Temperatures will be in the mid-30s for the afternoon. Snow should move out overnight.

Friday: A dry start to the day. Isolated slick spots with temperatures below freezing. Cloudy with highs in the middle 30s. Another system will bring the chance for snow overnight.

Saturday: Scattered snow returns with another system. This one will be stronger and with more moisture. Snow might mix with rain or freezing rain in the afternoon at this point. More snow returns at night. Accumulations expected but track will affect how much. Highs in the low to mid-30s. It looks a little windy as well.

Sunday: A few lingering flurries/some snow showers. Quite windy, thus making wind chills dangerous as the coldest air of the season works in with temperatures around 11 degrees in the morning and daytime highs only around 15 degrees.
