Today/Overnight:
Clouds thicken up today and temperatures remain cold only getting into the middle 20s.
We will slowly watch temperatures climb throughout the night so by daybreak we will be at or above freezing. This will impact the types of precipitation we see. In the evening some light snow showers will spread in, mainly to the north and northwest. Little to no accumulations is expected with this snowfall.
More widespread precipitation will develop around midnight, but as temperatures continue to climb the precipitation falling should be in the form of sleet and freezing rain. Eventually everyone will change over to freezing rain before morning. This will likely create slick roads late Friday night into early Saturday.
It's important to note that salt may not be laid as the rain would just wash it away. A freezing rain advisory has been issued for the entire Miami Valley from Friday evening until midday Saturday.
Saturday:
Some rain and freezing rain will be falling before daybreak but temperatures should climb above freezing after sunrise making it better on the roads. May still see some freezing rain through lunchtime due to the snowpack on the ground creating a thin layer of air at the surface below freezing.
To be safe, drive with caution throughout the entire day. Rainy and windy all day long. Temperatures eventually warm into the mid to upper 40s, some spots may push into the 50s. Cold air quickly cuts in as our system exits changing rain showers back to a wintry mix in the evening then ending as some light snow overnight.
Sunday: Temperatures will start in the low 20s and may only climb briefly a few degrees before falling through the late afternoon and evening. Lingering light snow showers or flurries will be possible.
Monday: Temperatures will start in the single digits in the morning and climb to a high around 20.
Tuesday: A chilly morning with highs reaching the low 30s.
