Today will be hot and mostly sunny during the day, though clouds will increase in the evening ahead of a chance of rain and storms overnight, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.
Rain chances will increase overnight, with showers becoming likely in the early-morning hours.
Highs today will be around 89 degrees, falling to a low around 71 degrees overnight.
The warming trend over the past couple days will continue this weekend, with highs in the mid 80s to around 90 degrees.

Sunday will be rainy, with showers and some scattered thunderstorms likely in the morning and early afternoon before chances fall again in the evening. A few of the storms could be strong to severe, causing damaging winds.
Rain and storm chances will fall away by nightfall, with clouds decreasing again overnight.
Highs will be around 90 degrees, but the NWS warned that there is a chance for heat index values reaching up around 100 degrees.
Sunday night temperatures will fall to around 69 degrees.
Monday will be hot with mostly clear skies during the day and overnight, with a high around 91 degrees and a low around 68 degrees.
