More rain, storms strike tonight; Warm, breezy during day

Today will be warm, breezy and mostly sunny, followed by rain and a chance of storms overnight, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

During the day, it will stay dry, with temperatures rising to around 72 degrees.

Starting around dark, a low-pressure system will start to move into the area, bringing be a chance of rain, which will quickly be joined with a chance of thunderstorms. Both will quickly rise and continue through most of the night.

Clouds will also increase as rain chances rise, for mostly cloudy skies by Sunday morning.

Thunderstorm chances fall away in the early hours of the morning, although rain will continue through dawn before tapering off.

Temperatures will fall to around 51 degrees overnight.

After showers early in the day, clouds will gradually decrease throughout the day on Sunday. There will be breezy winds, and temperatures aren’t expected to rise much from overnight lows.

The high will be around 57 degrees, before temperatures drop throughout the day.

Temperatures and clouds will continue to drop overnight to near freezing, with a low around 32 degrees.

By dawn on Monday, skies will be sunny, and temperatures will rise to a high around 59 degrees.

Monday night will be mostly clear, though after midnight the NWS predicted a few clouds and a slight chance of rain. Temperatures will fall to around 42 degrees.
