Sprawling high pressure will continue to keep the area dry through at least the early part of next week, with temperatures above normal.

Today will be sunny and hot with highs in the lower 90s, followed by a mostly clear overnight with lows dipping into the upper 60s, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

Monday will echo today’s weather similarly with bright sunshine and hot temperatures in the 90s, as well as mostly clear skies for the overnight. The lows will fall around 73 degrees.

The combination of heat and humidity will result in heat index values in the upper 90s to lower 100s on Tuesday, and mid-90s to around 100 on Wednesday, according to the NWS.

Tuesday will be mostly sunny and hot with highs in the upper 90s, followed by a mostly clear Tuesday night as lows fall around 75 degrees.

The NWS said for the hottest days this week, it recommended for people to stay indoors or under a shaded area. Dress in lightweight but loose-fitting clothing and stay hydrated by drinking water before you feel thirsty. Check on infants, young children, the elderly and pets.

Sunny skies are set for Wednesday with highs of 99 degrees, while Wednesday night will be partly cloudy but cool as lows fall around 71 degrees.
