Mostly sunny, chilly through weekend

This weekend will be mostly sunny and chilly before temperatures warm next week, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

Today will be mostly sunny with highs around 44 degrees. Sunshine continues to strike this afternoon with temperatures falling into the lower to mid 40s this afternoon.

There will be a few more clouds overnight as temperatures dip down below freezing to around 25 degrees. Warmer weather is set to occur by Wednesday with an incoming cold front Friday.

Sunday will be mostly sunny and a little warmer, with highs around 50 degrees.

Overnight temperatures are still expected to fall below freezing, but only barely, with lows around 30 degrees.

Clouds are expected to build up after midnight, for mostly cloudy skies when the sun rises Monday morning.

Those clouds will gradually decrease again during the day on Monday, and highs will again be around 52 degrees. Temperatures will fall to around 28 degrees Monday night under mostly clear skies.

Temperatures are expected to rise later in the week, reaching up into the mid-60s and bringing a long a chance of rain.
