Today will be partly sunny and cold, with light accumulating snow late tonight, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

Overnight snow is mostly expected after midnight, with accumulations of generally about 1-2 inches. Dayton is expected to get just over an inch and Springfield could see 1.4 inches of snow, according to the NWS. Snow could continue into the Friday morning commute, so motorists should be careful as snow and ice and can create slick spots.

Highs will be around 35 degrees today, falling to around 27 degrees overnight.

On Friday, there will be a slight chance of snow in the morning, but otherwise it will be mostly cloudy and breezy, with highs around 32 degrees. Gusts of 20 to 30 mph are possible during the day.

Friday night will be mostly cloudy with lows around 17 degrees.

Saturday will be mostly sunny with highs around 25 degrees, followed by a partly cloudy night with lows around 15 degrees.

On Sunday into Monday, the NWS predicted that a significant wintry weather system will track east through the region, and could cause “significant” precipitation. The exact track of the winter storm is uncertain, but the NWS said there is a high potential for significant winter weather impacts in the greater Dayton area.
