Cool, but mainly dry this weekend; Chance for light dusting of snow on New Year’s Eve

Today will be cool and cloudy, with a mostly dry weekend, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

Isolated and patchy, light showers are possible today, but widespread rain isn’t expected. It will be mainly dry and cloudy for most today.

Highs will reach around 40 degrees, with lows dipping into the mid-30s overnight.

There is a slight chance for light showers overnight.

Saturday will be mostly cloudy and dry during the day. The high will be near 42 degrees with a low of 31 degrees.

Cloudy and cool conditions continue Sunday with highs around 40 degrees.

There’s a chance for brief, isolated showers during the day. A cold front will start to move in during the afternoon, bringing colder temperatures and the possibility for rain.

Depending on when temperatures drop, some areas could see some snowflakes. Any accumulation would be limited to a couple tenths of an inch, according to NWS.

New Year’s Eve night will see 2023 come to a mostly cloudy end with low temperatures in the high 20s.
