Dayton regions sees its first snowfall; more snow flurries likely possible tonight

The first snowfall of the season arrived this morning for the Miami Valley.

This morning, many counties saw up to a few inches of snow.

A slight chance of snow showers may occur before 4 p.m. today. Most of the accumulated snow will move out of the area through the afternoon hours, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

The trend of snow will continue this evening with some snow showers or flurries as they are expected through the evening., according to the NWS.

Despite the snowy conditions, skies will be cloudy and temperatures will be in the high of 35 degrees.

Tonight will also be mostly cloudy with a low of 29 degrees. Additional flurries are expected to occur after 8 p.m.

Reduced visibilities are likely as road temperatures are expected to remain above freezing. In addition, a few bursts of heavier snow may bring slushy conditions, according to NWS.

Rain and snow occurred this morning before 1 p.m., followed by a chance of rain in the afternoon, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington. In western counties, some light snow accumulations of less than a half inch were possible in the morning, mainly on elevated and grassy surfaces.

Highs will only reach up around 40 degrees.

As the morning went on, more areas of west-central Ohio saw more snow falling.

Sunday will be mostly clear and cold with a high of 41 degrees. Temperatures will drop down to mid-20′s overnight with quiet conditions and a mostly clear sky.

High pressure and drier conditions will build into the region Sunday into Monday, according to NWS.

On Monday, it will be mostly sunny, but highs will be around 42 degrees. Overnight, clouds will gradually increase as temperatures drop to around 29 degrees.

Freezing temperatures will occur this week.
