Rainy today with chance thunderstorms; Drier conditions return mid-week

The week will start off rainy and cooler before conditions start to dry out mid-week and summery temperatures return.

Today there will be multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms, with damaging winds possible in the afternoon and evening, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

Heavy rain is also possible during the day, which could lead to rapid flooding.

Temperatures will be cooler, with highs around 77 degrees. Lows will drop to 62.

Rain chances will linger throughout Tuesday, but overall it will be a cloudy day.

Highs will be in the mid- to upper 70s, with temperatures dropping into the low 60s.

Drier conditions return Wednesday with partly sunny skies. High temperatures will be around 80 degrees and overnight it will be around 60.

Sunshine continues Thursday with warmer temperatures. Highs will be in the mid-80s with overnight lows of 62 degrees. Conditions overnight will be partly cloudy but cool.
