Widespread showers today; Severe storms possible Wednesday

Warmer temperatures are expected this week, but unsettled weather patterns will bring showers throughout the week, with a chance for severe storms Wednesday evening and night, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

It will be a wet start to the work week with widespread showers and storms throughout the day today. A few rumbles of thunder at possible, but severe weather is not expected, according to NWS.

There’s an 87% chance of rain for the Dayton area, with 0.5 to 1 inch of rain forecasted.

High temperatures will reach the low to mid 60s. Winds of 15 miles per hour are expected, with gusts of 30 mph possible.

Rain should start to taper off into the evening, but more showers are possible overnight, including some thunder.

The low will be 48 degrees. Light and varied wind may occur after midnight.

Tuesday will be partly sunny with highs in the mid 70s. Overall it will be dry, but the chance for isolated showers remain late in the afternoon and evening.

Wednesday will be another wet day with the chance for severe storms and damaging winds in the evening and overnight.

The chance for rain picks up in the morning and daytime hours, with some thunderstorms possible.

Highs will reach the mid 70s.

Scattered showers and storms will be widespread late Wednesday evening with a few severe storms possible. The primary threat is straight-line winds, with damage to trees and power lines possible, according to NWS.

West central Ohio, including the Dayton area, is Level 2 or slight risk for severe weather. Scattered severe storms and longer-lived storms are possible, as well as gusty winds.

Following Wednesday drier conditions should move into the region, with Thursday being mostly sunny with highs in the low 60s.

Sprinkled showers could arise before 7 a.m.

Thursday night has drier conditions with a low of 41 degrees.
