Softball-Sized Hail Damages Cars, Homes

Hail the size of softballs and tennis balls fell during storms Wednesday evening.

A funnel cloud was reported in Sugarcreek Twp. and News Center 7 has received many reports of cars that were dented and had their windows blown out.

"All of a sudden, just big sized like softballs, baseballs were falling from the sky," said Bill Lodgson. "It just destroyed this screen and just shattered the glass there. You didn't know what was going to happen, you know?"

The hail even damaged this Miami Valley resident's home.

"We started hearing banging, and I said well, it sounded like shrapnel coming in," John Lipot said."It's gone clear through the siding into the insulation."
