Rain moves out, sunshine ahead for rest of week

Early morning rain moved out of the area, giving way to a partly cloudy day today, followed by sunshine for the rest of the week.

As some sun develops after the cold front that brought the early rains, temperatures will rise to about 78 degrees, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

Tonight should be mostly clear with the low dropping to about 58 degrees.

Thursday will be sunny during the day and mostly clear overnight, with a high around 82 degrees and a low around 65 degrees.

Friday, sunshine will return as the high climbs to 84 degrees. Some clouds will come in Friday night in time for football games, but rain is not expected.

The long-range forecast calls for mostly sunny skies Saturday through Monday, with highs in the mid 80s throughout the period.
