The overall severe weather threat has diminished for showers and thunderstorms that had the potential for hail, damaging winds and possible tornadoes, mainly along and west of the Interstate 75 corridor.

The National Weather Service in Wilmington canceled a tornado watch in effect for the region until 11 p.m. after reporting that a weather balloon launch indicated the atmosphere was more stable than forecast.

There is a chance of showers and storms before 11 p.m., then a slight chance of showers before midnight. Overnight the low temperature will fall to around 66 degrees.

After the above normal temperatures for the weekend, slightly cooler air will return for the first part of the new workweek.

Monday’s high will be near 79 degrees with showers and possibly a thunderstorm.

An 60% chance of precipitation is expected overnight Monday, with possible thunderstorms before 3 a.m. The low will be near 64 degrees, too.

Tuesday will be partly sunny with a chance of showers and storms before 8 a.m. and before and after 11 a.m. The high will be near 76 degrees and the low will be around 58 degrees overnight.

Overnight, it’ll be cool but mostly cloudy.

Dry conditions strike Wednesday with little to no rain chances found. Mostly sunny skies grin through slivers of cloud coverage with a high of 79 degrees.

Wednesday night will be partly cloudy with a low around 58 degrees.
