Line of storms arrive along cold front

A line of thunderstorms extending southwest to northeast along a cold front rapidly developed early this evening, meaning a few supercells will be possible over the next three hours.

Damaging wind will be the main threat, with hail and flooding from heavy rain also possible during storms, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

There have been reports of hail in Miami County, including quarter size, or 1-inch hail in Tipp City at 7:40 p.m. and Potsdam at 7:29 p.m. Mothball size, or ½-inch hail was reported at 7:52 p.m. in Troy.

Storm activity will be begin to wane after midnight, though a few light showers may linger.

The high for today reached 86 degrees in Dayton, 83 in Cincinnati and 81 in Columbus. Tonight will be mostly cloudy with an overnight low around 62 degrees.

Thursday will be partly sunny and cooler, with a high near 78 degrees. There is a chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 3 p.m. and before 8 p.m.

Saturday will be mostly sunny with a high near 84 degrees. There is a chance of showers and storms, mainly before 8 a.m. Saturday night will be partly cloudy with an overnight low around 61 degrees.

Sunday will be partly sunny with a high near 81 degrees. There is a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m., then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 2 p.m. In the evening, showers and thunderstorms are likely, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 8 p.m. The overnight low will be around 65 degrees.

Temperatures will be near normal for Memorial Day, with partly sunny skies and a high near 76 degrees. Showers are likely, and possibly a thunderstorm.

A chance of showers continues Monday night, which will be partly cloudy with an overnight low around 57 degrees.
