Rainy, damaging winds possible this evening; Chilly, breezy through end of week

Today will be warm with rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds possible tonight, before much cooler temperatures through the end of the week, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

There’s a chance for spotty showers this morning, with chances gradually rising throughout the day. Winds will start to pick up in the morning and into the afternoon, reaching sustained winds of 10 to 20 mph and gusts of 25 to 35 mph, according to NWS.

Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible in the late afternoon and evening, with straight-line winds and small hail being the primary threats. A brief tornado cannot be ruled out, according to NWS.

The main period of concern for severe weather is between 4 to 10 p.m., according to NWS. Most of Warren and Greene counties, as well as parts of Butler and Clark counties, have a chance for isolated strong to severe storms.

After the initial period of rain and storms, there will be a lull before an additional wave of showers moves in.

Showers will still be likely through midnight before rain chances fall, leaving a slight chance of showers that will trail off before dawn.

Clouds will also gradually decrease during the night, for partly cloudy skies by dawn on Thursday.

Highs will be around 76 degrees. Overnight lows will be around 49 degrees.

Thursday will be partly cloudy and blustery, with gusts of 20 to 30 mph and high temperatures around 63 degrees.

Thursday night will be partly cloudy with lows dropping down to around 39 degrees.

Friday morning patchy frost is possible, but should be limited, according to NWS.

It will be mostly sunny and blustery again in the afternoon, with gusts as high as 25 mph and highs around 61 degrees.

Overnight, clouds will gradually increase as temperatures fall to around 42 degrees.

Saturday will be cloudy with a chance of rain in the day and into the evening. Thunderstorms are possible during the late afternoon and evening.

High temperatures will be in the 60s to low 70s, with overnight lows dropping to the upper 30s to mid 40s.

Sunday will be cooler in the high 50s and low 60s.
