Warm, rainy today with thunderstorms in afternoon, evening

Today will be warm and rainy, with highs around 77 degrees, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

There will be a chance of showers and thunderstorms T in the afternoon and tonight, a few of which could be strong to severe and produce local heavy rainfall, the NWS said.

Small hail and gusty winds may be possible as well.

Once night falls, showers may be possible before 9 p.m., however, precipitation chances and cloud cover will decrease, for partly cloudy, calm conditions after midnight. Overnight lows will be around 67 degrees.

Sunday will be mostly sunny and hot with highs around 87 degrees. A widespread haze is expected after 11 a.m.

On Sunday night, clouds will gradually increase, with a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 a.m. Lows will be around 66 degrees.

Monday will be partly sunny, with the NWS predicting showers and a chance of thunderstorms for most of the day, dropping in the evening. Highs will be around 81 degrees.

A chance of rain was predicted to linger throughout the night, with a 60% chance of showers and storms possible. Otherwise, it will be partly cloudy with lows around 62 degrees.

Chances for showers and thunderstorms are then expected through next week as several weather systems pass through, according to the NWS.
