Chilly morning kicks off sunny Monday; chance for rain returns Wednesday

The work week will get off to a chilly start with brisk temperatures in the low to 40s Monday morning, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

Sunny skies will help warm up the region, with high temperatures expected to be in the high 60s to low 70s. Monday night, though, will ended as the day stared with a low around 44 degrees.

Dry weather continues Tuesday, but more clouds are forecasted as moisture begins to arrive, according to NWS. Tuesday will be slightly warmer than morning and will hit the low 70s during the afternoon.

Wednesday the chance for rain returns as a high pressure system moves across the eastern U.S., according to NWS. Skies will mostly stay clear throughout the day There is a threat for thunderstorms Wednesday night into Thursday morning. Thursday is expected to be cloudy and wet, but will started to dry out at night.

Mainly dry weather is expected for Friday and Saturday, with highs forecasted in the high 50s to low 60s.
