Accumulating snow possible through tonight, Winter Weather Advisory issued

The heaviest snow showers are expected to take place between 5 to 9 p.m.

Snow is expected to end between 8 to 11 p.m. While ground temperatures will initially be above freezing due, by the evening surface temperatures will be below freezing, according to the NWS.

Slick and slippery roads are possible during the evening commute.

Highs will be in the mid-30s today, with low temperatures dropping into the mid- to low 20s overnight.

Before Friday, February had forgotten it was supposed to be winter in Dayton. In the first 15 days of the month, we had more days over 50 degrees than under – the daily high temperature was never lower than 46, and the overnight low was never colder than 26, according to the NWS.

For comparison, the Dayton area’s historical average highs and lows are 38/21 on Feb. 1, and 41/24 on Feb. 16.

Dayton also had zero measurable snow in the first 15 days of February. Heading into Friday, there had only been one snowfall of more than 1.5 inches all winter in Dayton – Jan. 18-19, when the National Weather Service measured 2.6 inches at the airport.

Saturday will be partly sunny but cold. Highs will only reach the upper 20s.

There will be clear skies Saturday night with lows in the low 20s.

Temperatures will start to rebound Sunday, with highs around 40.

It will be mostly sunny with clear skies, but breezy. Wind gusts of 25-30 mph are possible.

Sunday night will be mostly clear with an overnight low around 26 degrees.

Presidents’ Day will be sunny with a high near 48 degrees.
