“There’s a large community of people who are very interested in this type of event, so it brings a couple different groups together and it ends up being a great time,” said Level Up Production’s Brian Johnson.
A spin on the classic dance party, guests at a silent disco are all wearing headphones connected wirelessly to a sound system. Instead of music playing through the venue’s speakers, the sound is streamed directly to the headphones.
This allows guests to not only lower the music’s volume at will, but also choose from a variety of stations.
The upcoming Cosplay Party will feature a station playing electronic dance music, a station playing classics from the ’70s through the ’90s and a station playing modern hits. Each station will also have its own DJ.
For this event, guests are welcome to make their cosplays as complex as they see fit.
“The costumes go from incredibly simple and tasteful to, you know, all all the way.” said Johnson. “I think we had like a giant 10-foot robot walk around, you know, so it’s really up to the the attendee and there’s no right way to do it.”
Drinks will be available at bars located across the venue.

Tickets for the event are $15 in advance or $20 at the door. Groups purchasing more than 10 tickets can receive at 20% discount during the presale.
This party kicks off Dayton Silent Disco’s slate of events for the year, which will be followed by a birthday party for DJ KimL in February and the adult prom, to be held in March.
