Previously, the park was open until 11 p.m. on the weekends.
“We want to be sure we are delivering a fun and memorable experience but like a wide range of industries, the availability of labor continues to be a challenge, and our park is not immune,” the letter said.
Soak City Water Park also opens this weekend for the first time. Reservations are required to enter Soak City this year. Currently there are no reservations available this weekend.
In April, Kings Island boosted wages by a dollar for the seasonal employees in April. The hourly range is between $11 and $12 an hour, depending on the job position. The new starting wage is up from $9 to $10 an hour.
The park usually hires more than 4,000 people each summer.
Park security workers and lifeguards, can get hired at a rate of up to $14 per hour.
